Police to procure 15 CCTV cameras:

It has been decided by the police commissionerate of Bhubaneswar to purchase 15 CCTV CAMERAS  in order  to cut down  the yearly expenditure of Rs.10 lakh by hiring surveillance cameras to monitor the trouble makers during  assembly sessions, rallies  and festive occasions.
As per the sources of information received its been confirmed that police headquarters had approved for the procurement of 5 CCTV CAMERAS in the first phase. Deputy commissioner MR.Nitinjeet Singh said that “We thought it is better to procure surveillance cameras rather spending lakhs every year on hiring these. We will train some of our personnel on how to install the cameras," Added to that he said those CCTV cameras will be installed as per the requirement needed.
As per the city police confirmation they need cameras 150 days a year while 6 CCTV cameras were installed in the assembly and 10 cameras were installed for the purpose of durga pooja and massive rallies or demonstration. As many as 83 strategic locations were identified for setting up surveillance system with video data analysis, command and control system in order to strengthen the crime control system and regulate traffic.
The police headquarters on Sunday dispatched 16 cameras to the commissionerate of police to bring Mahila, Capital, Kharavel Nagar and Nayapalli police stations under CCTV glare. While surveillance camera system has already been installed at Tamando police station, police recently decided to expand the network to four more police stations.
